More specifically, the Lead Custodian Evening is responsible for providing custodial services within all college buildings and for maintaining the safety and hygiene of classrooms, restrooms, hallways, administrative offices, and other assigned external areas during the day and evening shift.

Night Shift 11pm-7am

 

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Anne Arundel Community College has acted - and continues to act - with the safety of our students, faculty and staff as the highest priority. What you will do in this role

Dust, sweep, and or wax all hard floor surfaces.

Scrub, strip and wax all hard floor surfaces as scheduled.

Spray buff and/or burnish all hard floor surfaces as scheduled.
 
Vacuum and spot clean all carpets and upholstery as scheduled.

Shampoo carpets and upholstery as scheduled.

Wash walls, inside windows, window sills, baseboards, and glass doors as scheduled.

Clean and sanitize restrooms, including fixtures, hardware, tile surfaces, mirrors, partitions and floors. Replace restroom supplies as needed.

Unclog toilets if possible. Report all plumbing problems to the Assistant Supervisor immediately.

Remove graffiti from walls and other surfaces as needed.  If unable to remove, issue a work order and advise the Assistant Supervisor.

Dust office furniture, chairs, filing cabinets, and other furnishings in offices or elsewhere in the building on a daily.

Clean chalkboards, green boards, whiteboards, chalk trays, and erasers daily.

Collect trash and debris, including the removal of infectious waste containers and dispose of all trash and infectious waste in designated areas. Empty ashtrays daily.

Follow daily custodial schedule for assigned station.

Perform work orders as required.

Maintain proper care and use of equipment and materials in assigned station, including custodial rooms.

Notify Supervisor or Assistant Supervisors of maintenance issues so a work order can be generated.

Assist Supervisors as needed in the training of staff in cleaning methods and or procedures.

Relieve, assist or temporality substitute on other stations as assigned by the Facilities Operations Manager or Assistant Supervisors of Custodians.

Assist in the distribution of supplies to custodial staff.

Follow established safety policies and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment necessary to perform all duties safely.

Generate work orders for items in need of repairs

Other duties as assigned by the Facilities Operations Manager or the Assistant Supervisor

 

What you will bring to this position

High school diploma or equivalent and specialized custodial training required.

Minimum of six years of custodial experience required.

Must be fluent in English and Spanish required.

Ability and willingness to be flexible concerning work locations, assignments, hours and shifts.

Excellent buffing and cleaning skills required.

Must demonstrate the ability to use industrial equipment, including ride-on burnishers and scrubbers as well as newer advanced cleaning equipment.

Must have a valid Maryland driver’s license and a good driving record when performance of other duties require the operation of any college-owned vehicle or motorized equipment.

Proven record of attendance and reliability.

Demonstrated ability to work collegially with a culturally diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and administrators on a regular basis.

Demonstrated ability to professionally assist and interact with culturally diverse students, faculty, staff and the public.

Effective oral and electronic communication skills.
