Clinical Coordinator will collaborate with the nursing faculty and nursing academic chair to develop clinical placements, schedules, and partnerships for the nursing program.   They will develop long-term professional and collegial relationships with clinical site staff/administrators; will schedule student rotations; will assist with site visits as per accreditation requirements; and will facilitate problem-solving during the semester.

Lead the clinical placement efforts for nursing students for each clinical rotation in collaboration with nursing academic chair and course coordinators.  Secure clinical placement sites in advance of the semester using the Castlebranch system.  Provide clinical agencies necessary documentation regarding student and faculty requirements (ie, CPR, PPD, background, etc.)
Verify that the clinical sites have an established Affiliation Agreement with AACC.  

Identify and evaluate new clinical sites.  Work with the School of Health Sciences Instructional Services department to establish Affiliation Agreements between Anne Arundel Community College and clinical sites.  Maintain  communication with staff and administration at clinical sites.  This will involve off-campus travel.  Subsequent steps in the process may occur at a distance, but may require additional presence at the clinical site.  

Serve as liaison and primary source of information from students and clinical sites to the faculty.  Facilitate problem-solving for issues that arise during the semester.  

Assist with coordinating and conducting site visits per accreditation requirements.  Maintain records and databases as per accreditation requirements.  

Work with the nursing academic chair, faculty and students to ensure that students do not have outstanding requirements (ie, CPR, PPD, background, etc.).   Communicate issues with course faculty.  

Assist with the recruiting, orientation and mentoring of part-time faculty and promotion of professional development.

Participate in local and statewide forums designed to foster clinical education.  Participate in committees and advisory boards to help foster clinical education.  Maintain involvement in regional clinical education groups and consortium activities as applicable.  

Other duties as assigned by the nursing academic chair and Assistant Dean.

Master's degree or higher

Minimum of two years of relevant experience

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Organized and able to work independently.

Ability to travel to a variety of clinical agencies

Advanced knowledge and skills in use of information technology. 

 

Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with students, faculty, staff and external partners. 

Previous experience in higher education.
