The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Academic Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the coordination and provision of high quality instruction and curriculum development in the PTA Program and the School of Health Sciences (SHS).  Duties include instruction in a variety of formats including classroom, lab, special topics courses, distance learning, on-line instruction and coordinating and providing tutoring.  The PTA Academic Coordinator is classified as core faculty for reporting to the Commission on Accreditation for Physical Therapy (CAPTE).  The PTA Academic Coordinator assists in the coordination and support of accreditation projects, program surveys, program and course level assessment, program analysis and technology integration.  The PTA Academic Coordinator may also work within the SHS to coordinate, develop and implement courses and alternative instructional strategies as well as special projects for the Dean and Assistant Dean within the SHS.

PTA program instruction.  This includes classroom, lab, on-line,video conference and special topics courses.

Coordinates and provides administrative support for the PTA program, SHS and institutional projects/analyses as needed.

Coordinates all aspects of the PTA program's re-admission process.  Serves as the primary advisor to PTA students who are re-admitted to the program through special topics and learning contracts.  Coordinates and provides mentoring, tutoring, and advising for all PTA students in the program.

Coordinates, designs and develops instructional materials for diverse learning formats and methods.

Conducts program and course level assessment that are compliant with AACC's Learning Outcomes Assessment (LOA) and CAPTE required elements.

Coordinates and contributes to the design, development and updating curriculum for the PTA Program and SHS as needed.

 

 

Master’s degree in related discipline

Minimum of 5 years of physical therapy experience to include 3 years (or equivalent) teaching experience using a variety of instructional strategies.

Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant License in MD

Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, including ability to make oral presentations.

Strong human relations skills, including the ability to function effectively and tactfully with diverse populations such as students, administrators, faculty, staff and the public.

Ability to work flexible 40 hour weekly schedule, including some evenings and weekends, to accommodate the needs of the PTA program and SHS.  May include travel.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

 

 

A minimum of 5 years of direct physical therapy clinical experience

Doctorate degree preferred.

Experience in teaching using a distance learning format.
